How to Use AI to Create Content That Doesn't Sound Like a Robot
AI-generated content can often sound a bit… well, like AI. Full of generic phrases, repetitive points, and that weird, slightly lifeless tone that just sounds the same over and over again.
But despite what the moaners on LinkedIn might say, the fix isn’t to ditch AI altogether — it’s to stop treating the first draft like the final product. AI’s great at giving you something to work with, but you bring the real magic. Your voice, your take, your weird little anecdotes — that’s what makes content stand out.
Writing Better Prompts
If you're using prompts like “write a blog about marketing,” then you probably deserve the basic response that it's going to give you.
Instead, get specific. Try: “You are an AI SEO marketing expert, I need you to write a 500-word blog post targeting small business owners, explaining why email marketing still works in 2025. Include at least 5 sections and add the keyword "email marketing" for SEO purposes using a 2% keyword density throughout. Keep it conversational and include three real-world examples.”
It does what you tell it - that’s its strength and its weakness. The clearer you make you prompt, including details like who it’s for, what tone you want, and what to include, the better the results. And if you can, go and find existing content that you already like the sound of and then paste it into GPT and say “write in this style.” That way, the ai knows what tone to mimic, instead of having to guess.
Editing AI Content Effectively
Once the AI provides its response, don’t just copy and paste it. Read it like a human. And then double-check that you would say the same thing yourself, and of course, in the same tone and writing style.
