How to Choose the Right Talent Management Agency
Choosing the right partner can define your next five years. This video helps you make a smart call.
Before signing anything, research the agency's reputation and proven results with creators like you.
Look at their current roster. Do they represent creators in your niche? Are those creators growing or staying stagnant? Look for success stories – good agencies will showcase them.
Check how long they've been in business. New agencies aren't automatically bad – some are fantastic. It’s just that established ones have weathered industry changes and built relationships with brands.
Ask for references. Any legitimate agency should connect you with current or former clients who can share their experience – it’s good PR. If they won't, that's a red flag.
Services Offered and Level of Involvement
Different agencies offer different levels of service. Make sure their approach matches what you need.
Full-service agencies handle everything from brand deals to PR, content strategy, and career planning. They're hands-on but take higher commissions.
Deal-focused agencies primarily negotiate brand partnerships. They're less involved in day-to-day operations – you retain more creative control and have to do more planning. But this is perfect if you just need help with contracts and rates.
Ask specific questions about their process. How often do they check in? Who's your main contact? What happens if that person leaves?
Commission Rates and Exclusivity Terms
Commission rates typically range from 10% to 20%... but the percentage isn't everything. You’ve got to think about value added.
